About Saraland, AL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Saraland was born as Alvarez Station, part of a Spanish land grant to the Alvarez family. It became a squatter town in the 1800s and was renamed Saraland after the wife of the minister who established the first post office here.
The town remained quite small until nearby Mobile boomed during World War II. Saraland grew from 125 residents in 1957 to over four thousand in 1960. Nowadays the city has over thirteen thousand residents with an economy based on service, manufacturing, and oil.
Top city employers include Wal-Mart, Masland Carpets, J&J Construction and Maintenance Contractors, and Shell Oil. It's only ten miles from Mobile on U.S. Highway 43 and many residents commute. The two public schools are overseen by the Saraland Board of Education, and there are three private schools as well.
With summer highs of 91 and winter highs of 61 with rain year-round, the climate is humid but comfortable. Within the city are ten municipal parks and an annual holiday parade, and Mobile is a short road-trip away. One of the closest attractions to Saraland is Langan Park, a 720-acre park with lakes, tennis courts, and open areas. It's also home to the Mobile Botanical Gardens, a 100-acre site housing several types of gardens and a pine forest, the Mobile Museum of Art, and the Azalea City Golf Course.
